Gutter Types & Materials
K-style gutter

End cap

Reverse-curve (surface-tension) guard
A solid guard that uses a curved nose so water clings to it and curls down into the gutter by surface tension while leaves fall off the front edge. Works well for leaves but is less effective against small debris like pine needles or seed pods.
Foam and brush inserts

French drain
A gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe that collects and redirects groundwater or surface water across a yard. Catch basin

Roof valley

What’s the difference between a drip edge and a gutter apron?
They serve the same basic purpose, directing roof water into the gutter and protecting the fascia, but a gutter apron typically extends further down over the front lip of the gutter itself, while a standard drip edge sits more at the roof deck’s edge. Contractors sometimes use the terms interchangeably.
Do I need 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?
